Artist Biography
Dennis was born in Corner Brook Newfoundland in September of 1974 but moved to St. Johns at the age of five. He spent much of his free time fishing and hunting with his father, developing an appreciation for the out of doors.
A move to New Brunswick at the age of fifteen brought new challenges: a four year Olympic freestyle wrestling career which developed his awareness of the human body and the entrance into the B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fine Arts) at Mount Allison University. Dennis graduated from Mount Allison in 1996 with a major in painting.
He and his partner married and moved to Dorchester, NB. In Dorchester, with the help of family and friends, he renovated a large building that could accommodate the painting of many large-scale canvases. He continues to paint and live there with Darlene and their two children. Much of his painting focuses on landscape, but quite often there are other elements, whether they are figurative, architectural or still life, that finds their way into the work. Dennis is an active member of the art community and of his own community, having completed a term as a municipal councillor and has served as a volunteer firefighter for the local department for the past 9 years.
His work has appeared in many exhibitions and been the focus of a number of solo shows.
